What is Shanda doing with her life?

(Cue the giant panic attack from mom)

For those of you who still read this Blog, I decided I would announce that I have finally decided what I will do with my life post-knee-reconstruction.
I have finally come to a decision. I am going to go to cosmetology school, and also earn an associates degree from Utah State University in costume and clothing construction and design, along with a business/marketing minor as well,
and then I will be attending FIDM. (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. for those of you who are fans of Project:Runway, you know what I'm talking about. :) this is where its filmed.) there are campuses in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County. I hope to be accepted to either the San Francisco or San Diego School.
I will then (hopefully, remember, this is just the plan for now, it could change)go on to work in a salon, while running an Internet clothing business, with all of my own designs, and then eventually, someday, own my own boutique and/or salon. :)

:) I've never made such an artistic decision in my life. Goodbye Sensible Shanda, HELLO NEW WORLD!

(This post gives me an urge to sing the Thoroughly Modern Millie theme song... maybe later. haha)

What is Shanda Obsessed with?

my ALL TIME FAVE:

and WHAT pray tell is Shanda getting ready to audition for in 57 days?......

DANCE Pictures, Images and Photos

My Yearly blog entry. ha ha

yeah, i know, i'm bad at this!!!
but i decided to update all'y'all on my life, (since the only people who read this will be home tomorrow, ya know? ha ha... and because said people already see everything going on in my life on facebook...)
I'm actually considering deleting my facebook and just going back to the world of blogging. I randomly realized the other day that I am addicted to myspace and facebook. which is bad. I spend WASTE WAY too much time facebooking and myspacing. I deleted my myspace yesterday (YAY GO ME!) and will probably be setting my facebook to limited profile, just so i can stay in touch with friends still, but not be tempted to waste time on all the rest... *cough cough QUIZZEZ cough cough* within the week. who knows. so siblings (and anyone else who may possibly read this, even though i think you are all siblings. ha ha)
so, bottom line, when i disappear from facebook, you'll know why. you can still read about my life here! :)

so, the last few months have been a whirlwind of excitement!
I went to Journalism converence at Columbia University in NYC in March, and FELL IN LOVE with the city and campus. I want to go to grad school there now!

The next week, I went on Choir Tour to Branson, Missouri, with the Trouveres, to a national Show Choir Summit, where I was selected as "MVP" (Most Valuable Performer) out of the 4 choirs from across the US that attended. the other 3 choirs were all very competetive, actually attending and WINNING competitions all over the country. They work on their review all year, as opposed to the semester that we work on it, and all of them must have previous dance training and vocal training to even make it into the choir. Their costumes are professionally designed, They perform with a live band, they hire choreographers for THOUSANDS of dollars, and one even used pyrotechnics in their review. It was craziness. We got there and felt so out of our league, next to these pro's. only 5 people in our choir had danced previously, we use a minus track, that doesnt even work half of the time, our costumes consist of mix and match things we bring from home, hand-me-downs from my SIBLINGS years, 12 years ago (though i'm sure they werent even new when YOU used them!) and things the choir moms have made, our choreographer is the mother of a girl in our choir, who did it for free, and we can't even get our music and speakers to work sometimes, let alone have the budget or smarts for pyro. it was a bit of a shell shock to us, that these kids would take show choir so seriously.
and then when our choir swept the MVP awards (the Female MVP award went to me, the male MVP award went to my partner, Chad, what can i say, we're just that cool. :P ) we were totally shocked! (so were the other choirs... there were a few girls not so happy with me. ha ha oops!)
it was an awesome experience. i made some great new friends, learned new things about old friends, and got to go shopping at the BIGGEST rue 21 i have EVER seen. :P
we also saw a few shows while we were there, since thats what Branson is for! I really want to go back and audition for a few of them, even if i only do it for a year. I love performing, and these shows were all totally my type. big sparkly broadway reviews and such.

Both of those trips were right smack dab in the middle of rehearsals for Grease at the mystique, which had its closing night last week. THAT was a fun show. sure, i got sick of it sometimes, but i will miss the people insanely... what better way to show you the amazingness of these kids than with pictures!?

The Trouveres at "Silver Dollar City" theme park in Branson. this day was SO much fun!!!

This was my group at the summit. they split the choirs up into groups, so we could meet new people!

Breakfast before Spring Casual. i took my friend Kyle from the play.

hello again!

Gosh so I'm getting really bad at this whole blogging thing.
Life's busy, ya know? ha ha

so.. Christmas was good, we had the WHOLE family here, which was super fun (chaotic, but fun!) New years was... ish. ha ha. I went to the All Area dance sponsored by the church, there was a concert by Jenny Jordan Frogley and Macabrio (she's an EFY musician from utah, and he is one of her friends who was also on So You Think You Can Dance! he sings, he dances, he's got a REALLY cool accent, he went on his mission to Jamaica (or somewhere like that...) ya. it was amazing! )

i just finished my first semester of my Senior Year! One semester left to go and I'm DONE with High School!!! woohoo! we start choreography for trouveres at 9:00 am, and work till 10 pm. the same on Saturday and Monday. its gonna kill me, but it should be fun!

I asked my friend John Carter to the Snowball dance! its next saturday, and the theme is "Glow Big or Glow Home" so we're going to paint neon stars all over black tee shirts, i want to get some neon reebok shoes, maybe something like this:

cool huh? :)

i am also getting really excited to go to an Anberlin/Between The Trees concert at the end of the month! they are both amazing bands. i REALLY hope that Between The Trees will play "A Time For Yohe" its my favorite song. it was written for Renee Yohe, the girl who inspired the To Write Love On Her Arms project. (i'm sure you've all seen me wear my tee shirt, and heard me talk about it!)

ummm... what else is new......

i tried out for Trouvere solos today! they were both Ella Fitzgerald songs. ha ha. "In A Sentimental Mood" and "Caravan" both amazing songs. i'll let you know if i get either of the solos!

i also auditioned for the valentines broadway review at the mystique last night! i sang the song "Legally Blonde" from the Broadway Musical. (if you haven't heard it yet, GO LISTEN!!! its such an amazing musical!!!)
i'll let you know when i find out about that!

I am saving money for Choir Tour, we're going to Branson Missouri for a "Show Choir 101: STAR POWER!" convention type thing. they will help us perfect our review, and help with next years review as well!
I also have to save for a Journalism Conference the week before that. me and 5 other students from Rampage were chosen to attend the Columbia University Journalism Conference for 6 days in NYC! its going to be amazing!

oh, ya! i almost forgot! I was inspired by my sisters, and started a book blog! The Book Immigrant
go check it out! :)

hope life is going well for all of you! much love!

Shanda
